Stats from South Africa

I just wanted to share a little post summing up what happened in Cape Town. God did some amazing things and it was a privilege to be a part of it.

-There were a total of 27 teams including ours sent to cape town during the time that these numbers account for:
-1803 Salvations
-140 received physical healing
-11,763 people heard the gospel
-5,786 people received prayer in person
-58 people rededicated their lives to Jesus

These numbers are probably not totally exact because not everything was recorded but it gives you an idea of how God uses willing ordinary people to do extraordinary things! You are a part of this in your prayers and support, THANK YOU for your obedience and generosity!

New Update

Greetings from South Africa!

I just want to start by saying that we serve such an awesome God! It has been such a blessing and privilege to see God move across the globe. I have seen beauty that no picture could capture, I have witnessed poverty that no one should experience, I have been jumped on by a mob of African children, and I have seen God do things that I have only believed in faith could happen. The more that I see the more I realize my need for more of Gods presence and love completely flowing through my life. I must have more of Him. Without the love of God flowing in and though us it is impossible to see the change that is truly needed. He wants to see the world saved, healed, and set free and He is willing to give us His heart for the world.
1 Cor. 2:12
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

Our team is staying with a Pastor of a small church in a notorious neighborhood by the name of Parkwood. The house we are staying in is actually in a nice town, about a 20 min walk to the church. Our team lives in his guest house sharing 2 rooms and a bath. His family and church are so gracious and treat us so good. We have been doing a lot of evangelism in the church neighborhood, from open air preaching to just walking the area and talking to people. The culture here is so great though for this type of evangelism, because people are so relational. It is very easy to talk to most anyone and have a deep conversation with them. Our open air preaching sessions start with worship and this generally attracts a crowd and then there are several people that share. We are able then to pray with some individuals.

Since my last update we have seen a number of salvations and healings. I had the opportunity to preach along with a team-mate at a juvenile detention center, after I was done I presented opportunity to respond. The team prayed for a large number of the kids and out of 19 around 7 gave their hearts to the Lord and around 6 rededicated their lives!! We continue to see Muslims coming to the Lord. Around a week ago I grabbed a boy on the streets that was smoking a cigarette and very bluntly spoke to Him about repentance and accepting Jesus. I prayed for Him and God moved in His heart on the spot and He gave His life to the Lord. I thought he was just rededicating his life to the Lord, but to my surprise I found out that he actually used to be Muslim. Since that day he has been around our team and the church!!

If you are wondering about the food here let me just say that it is amazing! It is so cheep and so good. One of our outreach leaders was a professional cook for a nice hotel so we are so blessed. I think I have actually gained a little weight, and that is saying something for me! There are two dishes here that are specifically amazing and they are the (not spelled right) gatsby and a fatcook. A gatsby is like a sub for less then 10 dollars filled with french fries, sauteed onions, and some kind of meat of your choice and it is about the size from your elbow to the end of your fingers. A fatcook is like a donut filled with curry, trust me, it is really good! Oh and for dessert they have milk tarts... also good.

This past Saturday we experienced something really new... we went to the trains and preached all the way to our destination! We had full church on the trains! Worship, preaching... yeah...! It is still very new to us though and we are still figuring out the best way that we can operate in this ministry.

Church this Sunday was totally wild. We as a team were going to take over the whole service but even before we took over God was already speaking that He had something else in mind. After worship and offering the Pastor called those up who needed prayer for healing. There were some words of knowledge from someone on our team about specific healing as well. As they are praying I am around the front of the sanctuary when this lady completely started freaking out. She was spinning and could hardly be subdued, even by grown men. She nearly picked up my friend with one arm. They finally got her to the ground. She continued to kick and try to bite people, bending in positions that should not be possible at her age; her eyes looked like the eyes of an animal. We prayed over her and after about 10 mins the evil spirit left her. Right after that another woman went down, and then another, and then another. I have never seen anything like that before in person... I knew it happened, it just doesn’t happen everyday where I am from. We were holding people down casting out the demons while they kicked and fought to no avail. Our team is very diverse and some people on our team before yesterday thought that stuff was fake. Let me assure you that they have no doubts that what we witnessed was real. What a bonding experience, right? God is so powerful and awesome though, after those devils left those girls were free!

Please continue to pray for myself and the team as we continue into our final 5 weeks in Cape Town. Pray that we see more people won for the Lord then we have seen our entire trip in our final weeks. Pray that we would clearly hear the voice of God and walk in His guidance. Pray that we walk under an open Heaven and see God do ridiculously amazing things that result in a revival that sweeps this entire city!

I hope that you all are doing great! If you get a chance write me cause I would really love to continue to hear from everyone! Love you guys! God bless!

Hey everyone! So today I received Internet on my phone!! I should be able to update more often now! Picures will still have to wait though...
We have been so busy lately but God is doing really amazing things! Last week we worked with an intercity mission and did a lot of outreach to the massive amounts of people that live on the streets. There is over a 45% unemployment rate in south Africa. We also had a chance to lead small groups, praying for and sharing the gospel with many homeless people. Last Sunday our team ran the whole ministry for the morning. We made a meal and had a church service at the ministry center for homeless that came. We did a drama presenting the gospel, a testemony was shared, and I was able to give a message. Several people came to the front to get right with God and then about 4 people came up for healing. I was able to pray for a former Muslim who gave his life to Christ this past week! He was blind in one eye and had partial sight in the other eye. I prayed for him one time and he did not receive any healing, I prayed for him again and he could then see out of the eye that was blind!!! He then began to praise the true God!!

We have seen other healings and miracles and know it is only the beginning! God wants to bring His complete kingdom into every life, restoring hearts and minds, healing the sick and broken, and setting the captive free!

This week we are working alongside a church and a south African ministry. We have a really full schedule. Please continue to pray for our team and myself that we would have more than enough energy. Please pray against people feeling tired or sick as well. Pray that God shakes the places we go into and that many people come to Christ! I love you guys and I can't wait to talk to you soon!

Hey everyone! I just wanted to write a short note to let you guys know that we are here in South Africa and everything is going great so far. We arrived here safely and are staying at an old WWII camp. As of right now I do not have a lot of internet access or time, but I hope to post a longer update soon. We are working with really poor townships in the city and have already seen 8 salvations and several people healed! I love you guys and I hope that everything is going good! Write me if you get a chance and let me know what is up! I will post more hopefully this week.

Thank you so much!

Tonight was the commissioning night for my team to send us out to Cape town, South Africa. We were introduced and prayed for corporately in front of the base along with other teams that will be sent to the nations. It is an awesome experience to be a part of a team ministry. There are so many gifts that God is going to bring out and use in us. I know that the days in Cape Town are going to be full but I am very excited to see what God is going to do. I will try to post updates as regularly as I am able to.

I want to thank all of you for your support to this point! All of the money has been provided for the outreach! Thousands of dollars came in and most of it was totally anonymous. I don't even know how to express my appreciation for everything... Thank you so much to my Church at home, Northview Community, to people on base, and to all of you that gave so generously! Thank you for all of your prayers and please continue
to pray for my team and myself as we continue to prepare to leave for Cape town this Sunday!!

I want to recognize some people at home that I miss and love and that I am increasingly thankful for even though constant communication is difficult : from the Sunday night small group your pursuit for the presence of God still encourages me, all my friends at the BCM I look forward to some ultimate soon, Jeremy and Lauren Ellis who are amazing leaders that pursue Gods heart and allowed me to do so much, Craig and Autumn Moore and church 922 who are radicals for Christ and a constant encouragement to me, the Ferguson family and Bible study who have a powerful revelation of family and hospitality, Josh Lehmkuhl and the monday night group who's lives and visions are consistently increasing and being transformed in the presence of God, everyone that helped with the worship encounter night, the Leonard family, Pastor Mike and Northview Community Church for their constant support and encouragement, Pastor Keith and Heritage Fellowship for faithfulness in facilitating an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can move and people are discipled, my best friends that have encouraged and
discipled me through their actions Dave, Roger, Bert, and Ian, of course Megan and my family for always loving, supporting, and being included in my best friends, and not to forget the faithful and amazing hardcore adventure night crew!

I know cannot name you all now but you know who you are! You are all such a part in my life and in what God is doing in me and I want to thank you. I believe that God has awesome things in store for each of you. I love you all!

Wow... the time is just flying here!! We are less then 3 weeks from our outreach to Cape Town South Africa. We have our teams assembled and are now getting all of the details for the trip. It has definitely been a great experience here in Perth, it has been hard at times, but sometimes that is what is needed to take us to the place where we should be. I have been surrounded by missionaries that daily seek to hear the voice of God for the steps that they should take. Every week is full with testimonies of God speaking to people and working miracles in their lives. There was an amazing testimony that our base director emailed us recently when she was in Mexico City. It was an email from a YWAM student on outreach in South Africa... Here is the part where she shares his testimony:

"He and a fellow student were out in the community walking the streets and praying when he saw a drunken man in pain. He had bad hip and back pain, they asked if they could pray for him. He said yes, so they eagerly began to pray and the man was healed. Another man in the same community saw what had happened and wanted prayer too. This man’s back was injured so they began praying for him and he was also healed. He asked them if they could come to his house to pray for his mother. He was explaining that she was crippled with arthritis and blind. As they prayed for this man’s mother she could move her body around and she was immediately healed of her arthritis—she could walk again. They continued to pray and her left eye was healed. As they prayed again her right eye was healed too!"

This is could be anyone, anytime, anywhere... not just South Africa! God wants to show the world how much He loves them and He wants to use us. God has been stirring my heart for the church in America to really see Gods kingdom come. We need to walk with a revelation of the love of God to an extent that it becomes our hearts every intention. When this happens we can look at ourselves in a new light and not walk in discouragement or self pity. When we know that we are loved by the creator of the universe we will see amazing things happen. Just ask God how much He loves you and ask Him to fill you with His love and just see what happens!

Something really awesome happened this week to one of the girls on my team. I was in the lobby with several others on base and Olivia busted into the room ecstatic. She told us she was having her quiet time in the park and asked God for a revelation of His love... still freaking out she pulls out her cell phone and tells us that this is what she saw! (picture on right) She went to go get a real camera, came back and it was gone! God is just waiting to reveal Himself to us. Romans 8:16 says "For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed."

There are some great things happening here. It is exciting to know are team and to prepare for our trip to South Africa. As of right now I am believing God for a financial miracle. The money is actually past due to turn in and I need over $4000 USD to be able to go. If you can or know anyone that could financially support even a small part of this trip it would be so much appreciated by myself and my team. All donations will be tax deductible if made out to Northview Community Church. Checks can be mailed to 109 Bartlett Ave. Erlanger Ky. 41018. There is also a link to make donations online if you click here. If you pay online put other in the payment type and "outreach" in the Details box. If you can or cannot support financially please continue to pray for myself and my team during this time of preparation. Also if you just want to say hello write me at montgomerydustin43@yahoo.com or just send me a message on facebook...it would be awesome to hear from you!!

Well here I am in literally the most isolated city in the world! We are over a thousand miles from the next large city. It was quite the journey getting to the city and right from the beginning God was working miracles. I realized that after I booked myicket from Sydney to Perth that I did not give myself a long enough time to catch my next flight so I tried to change my ticket. Things were just not working out; I could not get ahold of the travel company and when I called the airlines they told me that it would cost another 200 dollars to change my ticket! I wasn’t going to do it I was just going to trust God that it would work out. I was in San Francisco and still could not get ahold of the travel company so I didn’t really know what I was going to do.When I arrived in Sydney, I was too late, as expected, to catch my connecting flight with my non-refundable ticket to another airline. I got to the booth and they gave me a totally free ticket!

After 4 flights over 12 thousand miles and about 32 hours I finally arrived in Perth! I was picked up from the airport by one of my school leaders and brought to my new home for the next 12 weeks. I didn’t really know what to expect when I got here, but what I found was something you might think of when you read about the lost boys in Peter Pan. A giant community of young missionaries around the world that live, eat, worship, and do almost everything together. I was then shown my room... well our room. I stay in a room with about 25 guys and across the hall stay about 25 girls. We share a kitchen and a dining/lounge room... it is nice! Our discipleship training school is not the extent of YWAM. There are somewhere around 300 people that are a part of this base either on outreach or in Perth. YWAM houses all of these staff and

students in many of their 40 or so properties in the area.

The City of Perth

Perth is definitely a nice city to look at. From the beautiful weather, giant palm trees, and well designed city, Perth is a nice city to live in. There is an outdoor mall near the center of the city and overlooking it all is Kings Park, the largest city park in the world. Even larger then New York’s Central Park. There is a train station next to base that we can take to the city or the beach. Perth is an extremely international city, sometimes it almost seems like there are more Asians then Australians.

There is a not so beautiful side to Perth as well. Australia in generally is very liberal, and even here, not so far from base, is a brothel where prostitution is legal. With a nation so liberal, there are many who are very closed and distant from the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Base Life and Classes

Our days here at the base are extremely full. During the mornings throughout the week we have corporate worship or intercessory prayer. We then attend class in which each week is a different subject. So far we have went over these topics:

  • Hearing the Voice of God
  • The Nature and Character of God
  • Repentance and Forgiveness
  • Worship and Intercession
  • The Father Heart of God
  • The Fear of the Lord
  • Missions
  • Relationships

We have work duties in the afternoon, have a short break and then most nights we have an activity.

The classes are great and we are always encouraged to apply what we learn! The last day of Repentance and Forgiveness week lasted from about 8:30 in the morning to about 10:30 that night because everyone in the class individually repented publicly of their unconfessed sins and then were prayed for! God moved in so many hearts that day, and many people were set free!

It is so apparent that one of the main focuses of this base is to hear the voice of God! God is always willing to speak to us... we just

have to make ourselves available to hear His voice, not limiting ourselves in how God can speak to us.

One of my favorite times of the week is Thursday nights; which is outreach night. My group goes to a mall about a half an hour from base. The other night my partner and I asked God to speak to us about who to talk to. God gave me the word “hat” and that was about it. Then God gave the girl I was with the word “pregnant”. Well we started walking and to my surprise we found ourselves in a crowd in which no one that I immediately saw was wearing a hat at the time. I basically told my friend “isn’t it great when God tells you something to look for and you don’t see it commonly so that when you do see it, it will really stick out?” Well about a minute after I said that there was this man with a hat walking toward us holding hands with a pregnant woman! We had a chance to share with them and prayed for them as we were walking away. I am believing God for more divine encounters to share His love with the people of this city.

Outreach

The lecture part of the DTS lasts 12 weeks. At the end of that time we are sent out on our outreach. The end of June we will

leave for Cape Town South Africa! We will be there for about 12 weeks working with churches, evangelizing the area, and then working at a YWAM international festival in September. It is

going to be an amazing time to be used by God in that part of the world! As of right now I do not have the finances for this trip but there is still time to raise the support needed! I still need approximately $4000 (US) Due this week. Please pray that God would prepare my heart and the team for this trip. Pray that God would prepare the way for us in South Africa, and that hearts would be ready to receive the Gospel!

We want God to be in charge and guide whatever we do. We are believing God for salvations, signs, wonders, and mind blowing miracles! A lot of prayer and preparation is going into this trip but we want Proverbs 16:9 to be active in our lives: “A man plans his course but God determines his steps.” God wants to move in South Africa even more than we do... He loves them more than we will ever love them!

I want to be available to contend for God to invade South Africa and to let His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

If you are able to support in any way please send all checks to 109 Bartlett Ave. Erlanger Ky. 41018. Write checks out to Dustin Montgomery or if you want them to be tax deductible make them out to Northview Community Church. You can also send support by credit card clicking this link. Thank you for all of your prayers and support!
